Dana Winkler, MBA
Actuarial Manager


Ms. Winkler joined Richard Sherman & Associates, Inc., in 1995 and currently has 19 years of experience in actuarial and financial analysis. Her work experience includes background in liability and workers’ compensation actuarial analysis, self-insurance feasibility studies, and rate filings. In addition, she has been involved in a wide variety of projects including loss portfolio transfer bidding, risk-based capital studies, Schedule P analysis, and financial statement management.

Ms. Winkler has successfully completed Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams covering Finance, Economics, Risk Theory, Accounting, Reinsurance, Ratemaking, Reserving and Regulation.

Prior to joining Richard E. Sherman & Associates, Inc., Ms. Winkler served as manager of the Finance and Actuarial Department of Republic Western Insurance Company for several years. In that capacity, Ms. Winkler was responsible for setting and evaluating over $200 million in loss reserves for several different lines of business, as well as managing preparation of Schedule P and the annual reserve certification. Further responsibilities included the hiring and training of departmental actuarial analysts.

Ms. Winkler’s employment history prior to joining Republic Western included three years as a financial analyst with the Prudential Insurance Company of America.

Ms. Winkler received her Master’s in Business Administration from Arizona State University with an emphasis in Computer Information Systems in December of 1992. She earned her degree with a GPA of 3.7 while also working full time for a corporate insurance office. Ms. Winkler received her undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, in 1987. During her undergraduate years, she received a number of awards, including Indiana University’s largest academic scholarship, the Distinguished Scholar Award, mention on the Chancellor’s List, and membership in the honor society of Phi Eta Sigma.
